(Chicago, IL) — Governor Rauner is applauding a bill he signed that requires lawmakers, lobbyists and state employees to take sexual harassment training every year. Rauner calls the bill a good first step, but he says the law needs tweaking so the legislative inspector general can have more independence from lawmakers he or she may be investigating. He says now lawmakers exert too much control, including deciding if the inspector general can undertake an investigation. Rauner also signed a bill that extends the statute of limitations on 27 harassment complaints that are pending in Springfield.
