Shirley Mae Stateler, age 81, of Greenup, Illinois, passed away at 6:50 AM – Friday, November 24, 2017, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon, Illinois.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM – Tuesday, November 28, 2017, at the Meyer Funeral Home – Bishop Chapel in Greenup, Illinois, with Pastor Roger James officiating. Burial will be in the Aten Cemetery in Hidalgo, Illinois. Visitation will be held 2 hours before the services. Shirley was born on January 7, 1936, in Shelby County, Illinois, the daughter of Gaylord W. and Carrie M. (Bodine) Martin. She married Jim Stateler, on April 9, 1955, in Cumberland County, Illinois, and he preceded her in death on October 1, 1985.
Shirley worked at Ettelbrick Shoe Company for several years and retired from United Technologies in Newton, Illinois.
Shirley is survived by: Sons – Rick (Susan) Stateler of Newton, Illinois and David (Shell) Stateler of Greenup, Illinois, Granddaughter – Tearah Stateler of Charleston, Illinois, Step Grandson – Keithen Remlinger of Greenup, Illinois, Great Grandson – Kingston Stateler of Charleston, Illinois, Sisters – Pauline Verdeyen of Effingham, Illinois and Grace Winnings of Bradenton, Florida Brothers – Glenn Martin – Woodbury, Illinois and Donnie Martin of Neoga, Illinois, Sisters-in-law – Joan Taylor of Mattoon, Illinois and Wanda Callahan of Neoga, Illinois and several nieces and nephew also survive.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, parents, husband, two brothers Bobby Dean Martin and Earl E. Martin, three sisters Jean Bernadini, June Grunloh and Gwendolyn M. Mayhall and a sister-in-law Jean Huddleston.
