An incident, Tuesday, January 9th in Oakwood, IL at a Phillips 66 parking lot, leaves one deceased. According to preliminary details from Illinois State Police District 10, A 45 year old male of Martinsville, Ohio (unit 1) was in the east parking lot of Phillips 66 in Oakwood. While pulling out from the fuel pumps, unit 1 struck a 47 year old male of Jacksonville, IL (unit 2). Unit 1 dragged unit 2 onto Oakwood Road to the I-74 eastbound ramp. Unit 1 thought his vehicle was having mechanical problems and pulled over to the side of the ramp, when doing so he was advised from a witness that he struck a pedestrian in the parking lot. EMS responded and unit 2 succumbed to his injuries, he was then transported to the Vermilion County Coroner. At this time no charges have been filed.
