Former Trump Campaign Aide Rick Gates To Plead Guilty
(Washington, DC) — Former Trump campaign aide Rick Gates is pleading guilty in Robert Mueller’s Russia probe. Gates is set to plead guilty in federal court this afternoon to two charges — conspiracy against the United States and making false statements to federal investigators. Gates was indicted by the Special Counsel back in October, along with former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort, on charges of conspiracy and money laundering. The plea comes one day after Mueller served the two with a new 32-count indictment.
Gates is the fourth person to plead guilty to charges related to Mueller’s Russia probe, following Trump’s former national security adviser Mike Flynn, former campaign adviser George Papadopoulos, and Russia-linked lawyer Alex Van Der Zwaan. Van Der Zwann pleaded guilty to lying to investigators about a conversation he had with Gates in September 2016.
