Southern Illinois School District Looks To Arm Teachers
(Ullin, IL) — A southern Illinois school district could be the first in the state to allow teachers to carry guns into their classrooms. Century School District 100 board members last week told “The Southern Illinoisan” that they want to see if current state law allows for teachers to bring guns to school. Board member Keith Clark says we arm guards for bank trucks and airports in this country, but we don’t arm school teachers. Illinois’ largest teachers’ union, the Illinois Education Association, says arming teachers is a terrible idea.
