26-year-old James Todd Shafer, of Mattoon was found guilty of first-degree murder and other charges in the death of Ciara Faires. Shafer was accused of firing two shots from inside a Mattoon apartment, one of which hit Faires and caused fatal injuries. Shafer’s sentencing hearing is set for April 20th. He faces 45 years to life in prison.
