(Chicago, IL) — A bill that would ban tackle football for kids under 12 is advancing in the Illinois House. Sponsors say the goal of the bill is to prevent traumatic brain injuries in children that can lead to the degenerative brain disease called CTE. At an Illinois House committee hearing Thursday, Dr. Robert Stern of Boston University testified that bigger helmets don’t help enough. The committee approved the bill and it now heads to the full House.
