(Chicago, IL) — On the day students across the country marched for relief from gun violence, the Illinois Senate advanced a number of gun measures. Senators sent Governor Rauner a bill for a three-day waiting period to buy an assault weapon, and they sent the House a ban on bump stocks and a boost in the age to buy an assault rifle to 21. Rauner, meanwhile, says he wants a bi-partisan, comprehensive approach to the issue and blamed House Speaker Michael Madigan for not supporting a legislative task force. Rauner is also facing a possible override of his veto on a bill to require gun dealers to get a state license.
