Durbin Holds Out Hope Of Federal Money For Quincy Home
(Quincy, IL) — Illinois’ senior U.S. senator says the federal government will pay for most of the cost to build a new veterans home in Quincy. But Dick Durbin says the state of Illinois must act first. Durbin told reporters in Quincy yesterday that the federal government will pay for 65-percent of the new home, if Illinois can come up with the remaining 35-percent. Illinois lawmakers are supposed to get a plan today that outlines how the state will fix the home where 13 veterans have died from Legionnaires’ disease since 2015. But no one is saying where Illinois would get the money it needs to pay for the project.
