According to a recent press release from Illinois State Police, on Thursday, July 5th John Evans of Shelbyville, IN and Jestin Covington of Bloomington, IL were both traveling along I-74 east, at milepost 180 when a personal injury crash occurred. Covington was driving slower than Evans in the right lane of traffic when Evans failed to reduce his speed and rear-ended Covington’s Dodge van. The van rolled multiple times and stuck the median cable wires. Both vehicles were towed from the scene due to damage.
Covington, along with his passengers, all juveniles between the ages of 1 and 10 were transported to an area hospital for non-life threatening injures. Evans was uninjured and issued a citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
