Cardinals Rally Past Pirates
(St. Louis, MO) — Matt Adams hit the go-ahead, three-run homer in the eighth inning as the Cardinals rallied past the Pirates 8-7 in St. Louis. Paul DeJong and Harrison Bader each drove in a pair of runs for the Red Birds. Adam Wainwright allowed four runs over five innings in his first start since May 13th and John Brebbia got the win. Carlos Martinez picked up his third save for the Cards, who hold a two-game advantage for the final NL wild card spot. Colin Moran, Starling Marte, and Josh Harrison went deep for the Bucs as their winning streak was halted at five. Edgar Santana didn’t record an out and was charged with all three runs in the eighth to take the loss.
