Fan Struck By Flying Bat At Fenway
(Boston, MA) — A Red Sox fan is recovering after being struck by a flying bat. During last night’s Red Sox-Blue Jays game at Fenway Park, Toronto second baseman Devon Travis lost grip of his bat during a swing in the eighth inning, sending the bat flying over the protective netting on the third base side. It struck a man in the forehead, leaving him bloodied. He was conscious and alert when stretchered away, and even gave a big fist pump to the fans. The netting was put into place after a female fan was critically injured by a shattered bat in 2015.
