Pirates Avoid Sweep In St. Louis
(St. Louis, MO) — Jacob Stallings knocked in a trio of runs as the Pirates avoided a three-game sweep in St. Louis with a 4-3 win over the Cardinals. Jordan Luplow finished 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored for the Bucs, who have won six of their last eight overall. Jameson Taillon [[ TIE-own ]] tossed seven innings of two-run ball for the victory. Felipe Vazquez pitched the final two frames to notch his 32nd save. Jose Martinez plated a run in the eighth and Patrick Wisdom drove in a run in the ninth to pull the Cards within one. Daniel Poncedeleon fell to 0-and-2 with the loss.
