An Altamont man has been found guilty of sex offenses with a 14-year-old girl. An Effingham County jury returned the verdict yesterday for 47-year-old Jerold Jones on two counts of indecent solicitation of a child and one charge of aggravated criminal sexual abuse. Jones, who served prison time in Indiana for child pornography, was already a registered sex offender. He faces a maximum of 10 years in prison, and said the sentence could be longer once his conviction in Indiana is taken into consideration. His sentencing hearing is scheduled for December 6th.
