(Zhejiang Province, China) — China is launching their first virtual news presenter. The state-owned Xinhua news agency said the computer-generated announcer presents news in English and Chinese. It’s modeled off a real-life anchorman and essentially reads statements fed into a machine. The news agency says the AI news anchor is a huge advancement for the media industry because it can work for 24 hours without any breaks, unlike a human news presenter who can only work for eight hours a day.
