UPDATED: Over A Dozen NYC Locations Receive Bomb Threats Amid Nationwide Scare
(New York, NY) — Authorities say 13 locations in New York City are included among the dozens of bomb threats reported nationwide. Police have already confirmed that Bronx Science High School was evacuated this morning, after a threat came in sometime before 11 o’clock. Apparently, the group or individual making the threats demanded bitcoin as ransom payment. The FBI says they’re working with local law enforcement partners throughout the country concerning the threats, while NYPD took to Twitter to say the threats don’t appear credible.
In Oklahoma City, police have confirmed that upwards of a dozen specific bomb threats came in by email. In both Miami, Massachusetts and Southern California, similar threats have been reported.

UDPATED: SoCal Hit With Email Threats
(Los Angeles, CA) — A nation-wide wave of bomb threats is affecting Southern California. Officials with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department say a business in Palm Desert was evacuated today due to the threats, but the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department says they haven’t heard about any specific threats. Emailed bomb threats have targeted other cities including New York, San Francisco and around New England. Investigators say the threats are being taken seriously but are not considered credible at this time.

UPDATED: Dozens Of Bomb Threats Reported Across U.S.
(Undated) — Dozens of bomb threats are being reported at news outlets, government buildings, banks, libraries schools and other businesses across the U.S. Around the country, places like Columbine High school, WNDU in Indiana and Capital University in Ohio all were evacuated for bomb threats. The threats allegedly stem from a mass email where an unknown writer demands bitcoin in exchange for safety. Oklahoma City police report ten bomb threats had been sent to various places in the city, and there are reports of 12 so far in Chicago. Nebraska police say they’ve responded to six different bomb threats today and a Jewish Community Center in San Francisco was evacuated following the threat. Other threats were also reported in Florida, Utah, Iowa, Maryland, New York and North Carolina.

Nationwide Bomb Threats Prompting Evacuations
(Undated) — Dozens of bomb threats are being reported at schools, news outlets, government buildings, banks, libraries and other businesses across the U.S. Police say they have responded to threats from New York to Colorado. The NYPD Counterterrorism Bureau tweeted they are “currently monitoring multiple bomb threats that have been sent electronically to locations throughout the city. These threats are also being reported to other locations nationwide and are not considered credible at this time.”
