Illinois Unemployment Stays Higher Than National Average
(Springfield, IL) — Unemployment managers in Springfield are trying to put a positive spin on the state’s new jobless numbers. The Illinois Department of Employment Security last week said payroll in most industries in the state is up from last year. But that news came with another reminder that Illinois’ jobless rate is still higher than the national average. Illinois’ unemployment rate for November stayed at four-point-two-percent. The national average is three-point-seven-percent.
