Ray Sawyer passed away in Daytona, Florida, after a “brief illness.” Sawyer joined the band Dr. Hook in 1969, two years after he lost his eye in an accident. The eye-patch wearing singer was the lead vocalist, the band best known for their 70’s hit “When You’re in Love with a Beautiful Woman,” that reached number one in the UK in 1979.
