UPDATE (4:30 p.m.): According to a press release from The Charleston Police Department, the suspect in this afternoon’s stabbing at the 300 Block of West Lincoln Avenue is Anthony M. Fisher, 23, of Effingham.
Preliminary details indicate that police arrived on scene and learned Fisher allegedly battered his brother inside a vehicle before fleeing from the scene. Later it was learned the suspect used a box cutter, in which the victim was not stabbed and did not sustain any major injuries. Fisher was arrested in the 800 block of 18th street and taken to The Coles County Jail. He’s pending charges of Aggravated Domestic Battery.
UPDATE (2:55pm): According to an EIU text alert (crime advisory) sent this afternoon by Eastern Illinois University, the suspect in the incident earlier today has been located and taken into custody without incident. More details will be available later today from the Charleston Police Department.
1:15pm: According to an EIU text alert (crime advisory) sent this afternoon by Eastern Illinois University, the Charleston Police Department reported a stabbing at Smokey’s House of BBQ restaurant at the 300 block of west Lincoln Avenue.
The suspect is described as a Caucasian male, wearing a maroon and grey hoodie sweatshirt, 5 feet and 11 inches tall, brown hair and hazel eyes. He was last seen heading south at Orchard and Johnson Streets, near the Charleston Fire Department.
