Hundreds Of DHS Workers To Return Today
(Undated) — Nearly 300 furloughed employees from the Department of Homeland Security will be heading back to work today. Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen approved a government request for the workers to return with pay, according to the Washington Examiner. The workers, from the E-Verify office, will be given new immigration service positions until the partial government shutdown ends. E-Verify offers to confirm employment eligibility for workers but has been closed since the shutdown began in December. This follows a similar work return from employees of the U.S. State Department after it secured funds for two week’s salaries.
