This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of central Illinois, east central Illinois, southeast Illinois and west central Illinois including: Champaign-Christian-Coles-Cumberland-De Witt-Douglas-Edgar-Effingham-Logan-Macon-McLean-Menard-Morgan-Moultrie-Piatt-Sangamon-Scott-Shelby and Vermilion counties.
DAY ONE…THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT… Refreeze of residual water will occur on untreated surfaces through the afternoon as temperatures continue to fall. As a result, slick spots will be possible on area roadways.
DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN…THURSDAY THROUGH TUESDAY… Bitterly cold conditions are forecast for Thursday night into Friday morning, with wind chills of 15 below to 25 below zero.
Light snow is forecast for Friday afternoon and evening and Saturday night into Sunday morning, with light snow accumulations possible. A stronger storm system is projected for Sunday night and Monday. Several inches of snow accumulation will be possible across northern portions of central Illinois.
SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT… Spotter activation is not anticipated through tonight. However, reports of snowfall and any icing affects would be greatly appreciated.
