Illinois Mileage Tax Sponsor Pulls Legislation

(Springfield, IL) — The Chicago lawmaker who suggested taxing people in Illinois based on how many miles they drive says he’s scrubbing the idea. For now. State Rep Marcus Evans yesterday said he may reintroduce his mileage tax at a later date. Lawmakers in central and southern Illinois say a mileage tax would be a killer in rural, and more isolated communities.
