The Charleston Fire Department responded to a call at 5:56 this morning. Fire Chief Steve Bennett says smoke was coming from the second floor of the residence at 319 Madison Avenue. Crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire. The residents were home at the time, but were able to escape. It was determined that the fire had started in the attic due to faulty electrical wiring. The attic sustained minor fire damage, and the home sustained water damage. There were no injuries.
