MIT Receives Large Donation For Research
(Cambridge, MA) — MIT is receiving a donation of more than 28-million-dollars to create a new center to study Down syndrome. The funding comes from the Alana Foundation, which is run by a wealthy couple from Brazil with a daughter that has Down syndrome. MIT officials say this is one of the largest gifts ever donated to study Down syndrome, which affects one in every 700 children born in the U.S. Today is World Down Syndrome Day.
