Indiana Lawmakers Let Loanshark Lending Plan Die

(Indianapolis, IN) — Indiana lawmakers aren’t going to vote to allow payday lenders to offer bigger loans. Republican State Representative Matt Lehman yesterday said he doesn’t have the votes to get the idea through the statehouse. Lehman wanted to let payday lenders offer more loans, and at higher interest rates, but ran into a lot of opposition from advocates and community groups.
