Parents Charged In Missing Suburban Chicago Boy’s Death
(Crystal Lake, IL) — The parents of a missing five-year-old boy in a northwest Chicago suburb are being charged with his death. Crystal Lake Police Chief Jim Black said the body of Andrew “AJ” Freund was found yesterday morning in a remote area in the nearby city of Woodstock. Joann Cunningham and Andrew Freund Senior are both being charged with first degree murder, aggravated battery, aggravated domestic battery and failure to report a missing or child death. Investigators located AJ’s body in a shallow grave wrapped in plastic. The cause of death is unknown at this time and will be determined at a later date. Police, along with the FBI, say the investigation is ongoing and active and they’re still reviewing and processing evidence.
