Capital Plan Would Increase Beer, Liquor Tax To Fix Infrastructure
(Lincoln, IL) — A tax increase on beer and liquor is being proposed as a way to raise money to fix the state’s infrastructure. Governor J.B. Pritzker estimates the hikes would bring in 120-million dollars in additional money annually and would put about 540-thousand residents back to work. Some bar owners say they would have to pass the costs on to consumers, which could hurt business.
