U.S. Economy Produced Only 75,000 Jobs In May
(Undated) — U.S. job creation in May was a lot weaker than analysts expected, and they weren’t expecting much. Nonfarm payrolls increased by only 75-thousand last month. That’s far from the 180-thousand economists had forecast and even further away from April’s 224-thousand, which was revised down from 263-thousand new jobs. It’s the second time in four months payrolls increased by less than 100-thousand and points to continuing weakening in the labor market. Unemployment remained at a 50-year low of three-point-six percent.
