Report: Only About A Quarter Of Illinois Kids Ready For Kindergarten
(Springfield, IL) — A new report says almost three-quarters of kids in Illinois are not ready to start school. The Illinois State Board of Education yesterday released a survey that shows only 26-percent of kids are ready for kindergarten. The numbers are better when you look at just math, or just language, or just social skills. The state board hopes to use the report to convince lawmakers to spend more money on early childhood education.
