Today (Thursday, June 27) is opening day for the 34th annual Firecracker Classic in Mattoon.
Charleston and Champaign will start things off at 1:00 at Grimes Field, followed by Ford/Iroquois vs. Olney, Elgin against Lincoln, and Mattoon Post 88 will battle Crawfordsville, Indiana in the nightcap.
At Mattoon High School, Decatur takes on Piatt County at 2:00 and Rantoul faces Moline at 4:00.
