Wrenching testimony from the victim’s parents is what jurors heard on the second day of the sentencing hearing for Brendt Christensen. Yingying Zhang’s mother described her daughter in a tearful video, saying she didn’t know how she’d go on without her daughter. Zhang’s father broke down while on the stand. His tears led Christensen to cry in court for the first time since proceedings began. Christensen was found guilty two weeks ago of kidnapping and killing Zhang in 2017. He faces either the death penalty or life in prison without parole.
