GOP State Legislators File Heartbeat Bill
(Springfield, IL) — Illinois Pro-life Republicans are making efforts to repeal the Reproductive Health Act. Six House Republicans have proposed a fetal heartbeat measure that would redefine a viable fetus as one that has a heartbeat or “repetitive rhythmic contraction.” The Reproductive Health Act gives no independent rights to fertilized eggs, embryos, or fetuses.
