Illinois To Push Census Participation In Schools
(Springfield, IL) — Illinois’ push to count everyone in the state in next year’s census means kids and teachers in the state’s schools will play a part as well. The Illinois State Board of Education last week announced a Census ambassador program. State Superintendent Carmen Ayala says the idea is to have teachers talk with kids about the importance of being counted, then have those kids go home and talk to the adults in their house. Census ambassadors will talk to kids from kindergarten through high school.
