New Laws: Increased Texting-Driving Penalties, New Food Stamp Usage

(Springfield, IL) — Governor J.B. Pritzker signed several-dozen bills into law on Friday. One of the bills increases the penalty for a crash with injuries involving a driver who was texting and driving. Those drivers could have their license suspended for a year and could be fined one-thousand dollars. Another bill allows homeless, elderly or disabled people to redeem food stamps at restaurants.
