Lawmakers Push Devos, Illinois Community Colleges To Help Midstate Students
(Washington, DC) — Democratic U.S. lawmakers from Illinois are urging the U.S. Department of Education to help students affected by the unexpected closing of Midstate College. U.S. Senators Dick Durbin and Tammy Duckworth and Congresswoman Cheri Bustos sent a letter yesterday to Education Secretary Betsy DeVos pressing the department to give students information about applying for closed school loan discharges, as required by law. Just over 180 students are estimated to be impacted by the closure.
