The National Weather Service has issued two Hazardous Weather Outlook statements for our Illinois listening area.
This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of central Illinois and east central Illinois including: Champaign-Christian-Coles-Douglas-Edgar-Macon-Moultrie-Piatt-Shelby-Vermilion counties
.DAY ONE…TODAY AND TONIGHT… Very warm and humid conditions will occur this afternoon with heat indices reaching 95 to 100 degrees. Scattered thunderstorms are expected today through tonight. There is a slight to enhanced risk of severe storms from late afternoon through this evening. Damaging winds will be the main threat, with isolated tornadoes also a risk especially from I-57 west. Lightning and locally heavy rainfall of 1 to 3 inches of rain in 1 to 2 hours will be possible especially this evening.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN…TUESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY… Isolated to scattered thunderstorms are possible Tuesday especially east of I-57, though no severe storms are expected.
.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT… Spotter activation will likely be needed late this afternoon and evening.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of east central Illinois and southeast Illinois including Clark-Clay-Crawford-Cumberland-Effingham-Jasper-Lawrence-Richland counties.
.DAY ONE…TODAY AND TONIGHT… Hot and humid conditions are expected this afternoon, with heat indices reaching 100 to 105 degrees. Scattered thunderstorms are possible today through tonight across southeast IL. There is a marginal to slight risk of severe storms tonight, with the main threat being damaging winds. Lightning and locally heavy rainfall will be a threat this morning and again tonight, with 1 to 3 inches of rain in 1 to 2 hours possible.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN…TUESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY… Isolated to scattered thunderstorms are possible Tuesday, though severe storms are not expected.
.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT… Spotter activation may be needed tonight, especially from I-70 north.
