(Lancaster, CA) — A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy who was ambushed outside a station this afternoon is going to be fine. Lancaster Mayor R. Rex Parris said the deputy was hit in the chest, but his bullet proof vest deflected the bullet, which ended up hitting him in the shoulder. The mayor said the shooter opened fire from a neighboring mental health facility. He described the shooter as a sniper. Deputies have the building surrounded and are working to resolve the situation. Lancaster is about 45 miles north of Los Angeles.
