The Vermillion County Courthouse went on lockdown just after 10:00 this morning following the report of a gunshot.
Witness say police shot an inmate after the prisoner stabbed a deputy multiple times. The deputy was taken to the hospital, and there is no word on the condition of the inmate.
The courthouse remains closed as authorities investigate the incident.
