Tariffs Challenging Central Illinois Recycling Centers
(Champaign, IL) — Central Illinois recycling centers are facing challenges because of tariffs placed on the United States from China. The expense of selling recycling in China and bans on exporting recycled paper and plastics to the country are leading to a tightening market. Many centers are no longer buying glass because of market conditions. There is no indication of when the Chinese market will reopen.
