A Cerro Gordo woman is charged with making a false bomb threat at Fifth Third Bank in Effingham. Police say 58-year-old Diana Keen threw a package at the staff at the bank yesterday afternoon, Thursday, October 18, 2019. Employees and customers were quickly evacuated. The Effingham Fire Department examined the package and said they didn’t believe it contained anything harmful or hazardous. The Illinois Secretary of State Bomb Squad was called in to verify the findings. The package was x-rayed, and a bomb sniffing dog also examined the package and found it didn’t contain explosives.
