Nine-Year-Old Goodfield Boy Arraigned For Arson, Murder
(Eureka, IL) — Prosecutors are moving forward with a case against a nine-year-old Goodfield boy accused of intentionally starting a fire in a trailer that killed five people. He was arraigned in court yesterday, charged with arson and murder. The nine-year-old could face a minimum of five years of probation and counseling and mental health evaluations are also likely. If he doesn’t re-offend before he turns 13, he won’t face incarceration. Because of his age, he can’t be held in custody and is living with his father’s parents as foster guardians. The state’s attorney confirms that a gag order has been placed on all parties.
