ISP District 10 troops are still responding to numerous cars in the ditches throughout Champaign and Piatt County on the interstate system. Roadways are still slick and hazardous. Use caution while traveling this evening.
Update: As of 4:34 p.m. central I-74 Eastbound is now open to one lane of traffic only.
I-74 East of University Avenue is extremely slick and hazardous from University Avenue to St. Joseph. Milepost 185-192 eastbound is treacherous. Multiple crews are still in the area removing vehicles. Use caution in this area.
Earlier: As of 3:22 p.m. central, Illinois State Police, IDOT, and Tow Services are currently working to remove crashes on I-74 East of University Avenue. Closures should be another hour at least. At this time Traffic is being manually pulsed through the Intersection of University Avenue and Guardian Avenue by ISP.
I-74 Eastbound is now closed at University Avenue.
Earlier: As of 2:39 p.m. I-74 East Bound is currently closed at the Cunningham exit (184) due to multiple crashes…. All traffic is being redirected through Urbana until further notice. Please avoid this area.. All roadways in the area are in poor condition due to the inclement weather…
It is encouraged individuals stay off the roadways unless absolutely necessary.
