Girl Hit By Car After Dog Pulls Her Into Street
(Mattoon, IL) — A teen is in critical condition after she was hit by a car when the large dog she was walking lunged into a street. The crash happened over the weekend in the 26-hundred-block of Dewitt Avenue in Mattoon. Police say an 85-year-old male driver couldn’t stop in time as the 14-year-old girl and her dog darted into the street. The girl was airlifted to the hospital in critical condition, but is stable. The driver wasn’t injured. Police say the dog wasn’t expected to survive.
