ISBE Working To Fix Racial Disparities In Student Discipline
(Springfield, IL) — The Illinois State Board of Education is working to fix racial disparities in student discipline. The ISBE is trying to bring down the number of minority students suspended in Illinois. Numbers have decreased over the last five years, but more minority students continue to be suspended than white students. Districts that rank in the top 20-percent in disparities in their suspensions, expulsions, and overall school population are required to make a corrective action plan.
