School Nurse Recognized For Saving Student’s Life
(Catlin, IL) — A school nurse is being recognized for saving a student’s life. Jenny Birge was honored last night for her role in saving senior and basketball player Katie Fritz at Salt Fork High School. Fritz had a cardiac event and Birge did CPR and used an AED on her. Fritz’s heart rhythm was restored after two shocks and she says she’s happy to be alive. She was diagnosed with a congenital disorder, ending her competitive basketball career.
