Kansas Governor Orders All Schools to Close for Remainder of School Year
(Topeka, KS) — Kansas Governor Laura Kelly is ordering all K-through-12 schools in the state to close for the remainder of the school year due to the coronavirus pandemic. Kelly says the situation has “evolved rapidly” and will continue to do so for the “foreseeable future.” She added that it cannot be controlled statewide if school buildings return to normal operations. State officials say they are taking the action to get ahead of the threat and “limit its long-term impact.” Resources will be provided to public and private schools for online learning going forward.
