Pilot, Two Passengers On Environmental Assessment Mission When Plane Crashed

(Lincoln, IL) — A preliminary report says a pilot and two passengers aboard a small plane that crashed near Lincoln were on an environmental assessment mission. The National Transportation Safety Board says pilot Mitch Janssen and ecologists Matthew Hanson and Kevin Chapman from Shoener Environmental were using cameras to document a bald eagles’ nest near Lincoln. The plane crashed March 3rd, killing all aboard.
