Ionescu Selected First Overall, Gianna Bryant Honored At Draft
(Undated) — Call her Lady Liberty. The New York Liberty made it official by drafting Sabrina Ionescu first overall in the WNBA Draft Friday night. The Oregon standout set an NCAA record, mens or womens, with 26 triple-doubles last season and became the first Division One player with two-thousand points, one-thousand assists and one-thousand rebounds. Gianna Bryant, Alyssa Altobelli, and Payton Chester were all honorary selections in Friday night’s draft. The three women were among the nine, along with Hall of Famer Kobe Bryant, killed in a helicopter crash in January.
