Columbia University Student Sues For Refund For Shortened Spring Semester
(New York, NY) — A Columbia University student has hit the Ivy League school with a class action lawsuit demanding tuition refunds, after the school shut down in March amid the coronavirus pandemic. The student’s attorney Edward Toptani says Columbia has refused to offer any refund for the Spring semester. Toptani says while it was wise to shut down the Manhattan campus, students should have their tuition refunded since they no longer have access to campus facilities, and student activities. The annual tuition at Columbia for an undergraduate student is approximately 58-thousand-dollars a year. The suit asks for a 55 percent refund.
