The Shelby County Board has approved a measure that will allow businesses to re-open despite the executive order.
Board members voted unanimously to allow the move, but warned that if a business does choose to re-open, they must consult with their insurance company to make sure their coverage will still apply.
In addition, the board voted in favor of placing a non-binding referendum on the November ballot that will ask voters if they believe the state should separate Chicago from the rest of the state of Illinois and form a new state.
